Description

This bourbon maple bacon french toast tastes like brunch at your favorite café but better. Sweet, smoky, and indulgent enough to make weekends feel special.


Ingredients

  • 8 thick slices brioche or challah bread

  • 4 large eggs

  • 1 cup whole milk

  • 1/4 cup heavy cream

  • 1/4 cup pure maple syrup

  • 2 tablespoons bourbon

  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

  • 8 slices thick-cut bacon

  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter


Instructions

  1. Cook bacon slowly in a skillet over medium-low heat until crisp, then set aside and reserve some fat.

  2. Whisk eggs, milk, cream, maple syrup, bourbon, vanilla, cinnamon, and salt until smooth.

  3. Dip bread slices into the custard, coating both sides evenly.

  4. Heat butter and reserved bacon fat in a skillet over medium heat.

  5. Cook soaked bread slices until golden on both sides and cooked through.

  6. Warm maple syrup with a small splash of bourbon if desired.

  7. Serve french toast topped with crispy bacon and warm syrup.
