Chinese Beef and Broccoli

Ingredients

  • 1 lb flank steak, thinly sliced against the grain

  • 4 cups broccoli florets

  • 1/3 cup low sodium soy sauce

  • 2 tablespoons oyster sauce

  • 1 tablespoon hoisin sauce

  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch

  • 1/4 cup beef broth

  • 3 cloves garlic, minced

  • 1 teaspoon fresh ginger, grated

  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil

  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil


Instructions

  1. Slice beef thinly against the grain and toss with 1 tablespoon soy sauce and 1 teaspoon cornstarch. Rest for 10 minutes.

  2. Blanch broccoli in boiling water for 60 seconds, then drain and cool.

  3. Mix remaining soy sauce, oyster sauce, hoisin sauce, beef broth, and cornstarch until smooth.

  4. Heat wok over high heat, add oil, and sear beef quickly. Remove and set aside.

  5. Add garlic and ginger, stir briefly, then return beef and broccoli to the pan.

  6. Pour sauce over and cook until thick and glossy. Finish with sesame oil and serve hot.
