Classic Apple Pie – Homemade Dessert

Description

Nothing beats the warm aroma of a freshly baked apple pie. Make this classic dessert your next homemade indulgence.


Ingredients

  • 2 ½ cups all-purpose flour

  • 1 tsp salt

  • 1 cup unsalted butter, chilled and cubed

  • ½ cup ice water

  • 6 medium Granny Smith or Honeycrisp apples, peeled, cored, and sliced

  • ¾ cup granulated sugar

  • ¼ cup brown sugar, packed

  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon

  • ½ tsp ground nutmeg

  • 1 tbsp lemon juice

  • 2 tbsp all-purpose flour

  • 1 egg, lightly beaten


Instructions

  • In a large bowl, combine flour and salt, cut in butter until coarse crumbs form, add ice water, and form dough. Chill for 1 hour.

  • Mix apples, granulated sugar, brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, flour, and lemon juice in a bowl.

  • Roll out one dough disc and place in a 9-inch pie pan.

  • Add apple mixture into the crust.

  • Roll out second dough disc, cover apples, trim edges, and crimp. Cut slits for steam.

  • Brush with beaten egg. Optionally sprinkle sugar on top.

  • Bake at 425°F (220°C) for 45–50 minutes until golden and bubbling.

  • Cool at least 2 hours before slicing and serving.
