Description

This creamy seafood bisque tastes like a restaurant classic but is surprisingly easy to make at home. One spoonful and you will feel instantly cozy and spoiled.


Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons olive oil

  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter

  • 1 medium onion, finely diced

  • 2 celery stalks, minced

  • 1 small carrot, minced

  • 3 cloves garlic, minced

  • 2 tablespoons tomato paste

  • 3 tablespoons all-purpose flour

  • 3 cups seafood stock

  • 1 cup heavy cream

  • 8 oz cooked lump crab meat

  • 8 oz raw shrimp, peeled and deveined

  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika

  • 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper

  • Salt and black pepper to taste

  • Fresh parsley, chopped


Instructions

  1. Heat olive oil and butter in a large pot over medium heat and cook onion, celery, and carrot until soft.

  2. Add garlic and tomato paste and stir for 1 minute until fragrant.

  3. Sprinkle in flour, stir well, and cook for 2 minutes.

  4. Slowly whisk in seafood stock and simmer until slightly thickened.

  5. Stir in cream, paprika, cayenne, salt, and black pepper.

  6. Add shrimp and cook until pink and opaque.

  7. Gently fold in crab meat, simmer briefly, and remove from heat.
