Description

Crispy, juicy, sweet, and savory all in one bite. These chicken waffle sliders are the ultimate crowd pleasing brunch and party favorite.


Ingredients

  • 1 lb. boneless skinless chicken thighs, cut into small pieces

  • 1 cup buttermilk

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour

  • 1/2 cup cornstarch

  • 1 tsp salt

  • 1 tsp black pepper

  • 1 tsp paprika

  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder

  • 1/2 tsp cayenne pepper (optional)

  • Vegetable oil for frying

  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour (for waffles)

  • 1 tbsp sugar

  • 1 tbsp baking powder

  • 1/4 tsp salt

  • 1 1/4 cups milk

  • 1 large egg

  • 1/4 cup melted butter

  • 1/4 cup maple syrup

  • 2 tbsp hot honey (optional)

  • 12 mini waffles


Instructions

  • Marinate chicken in buttermilk for at least 2 hours in the refrigerator.

  • Mix waffle dry ingredients, combine with wet ingredients, and cook waffles in a preheated waffle iron until golden brown.

  • Combine flour, cornstarch, and seasonings for dredging.

  • Coat chicken pieces thoroughly, double dredging for extra crispiness.

  • Fry chicken in 350°F oil for 4 to 6 minutes until golden and cooked through.

  • Drain chicken on a wire rack.

  • Assemble sliders with waffle, chicken, syrup or hot honey, and top waffle. Serve warm.
