Description

Bright, crunchy, and full of flavor, this Hungarian cucumber salad turns simple cucumbers into a sensational side dish everyone will love.


Ingredients

  • 4 medium cucumbers, thinly sliced

  • 1 small red onion, thinly sliced

  • 2 cloves garlic, finely minced

  • 1/2 cup sour cream or Greek yogurt

  • 2 tablespoons white vinegar

  • 1 tablespoon granulated sugar

  • 1 teaspoon salt

  • 1/4 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper

  • 2 tablespoons fresh dill, chopped

  • 1/4 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes


Instructions

  • Wash and thinly slice cucumbers. Sprinkle with salt and let sit for 10–15 minutes to remove excess moisture.

  • In a medium bowl, whisk together sour cream, vinegar, sugar, garlic, black pepper, and red pepper flakes. Adjust seasoning to taste.

  • Pat cucumbers dry and combine with sliced red onion in the dressing. Toss gently to coat evenly.

  • Cover and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to marinate.

  • Garnish with fresh dill before serving. Serve chilled with grilled meats, sandwiches, or as a snack.
