  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour

  • 1 cup granulated sugar (for topping)

  • 1 teaspoon baking powder

  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted

  • 1/4 cup whole milk

  • 1/2 cup caramel sauce (plus extra for drizzling)

  • Vanilla ice cream, for serving


Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.

  • Toss apples with granulated sugar, brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, lemon juice, and vanilla extract.

  • Stir in half the caramel sauce and spread apples evenly in the baking dish.

  • Mix flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt for topping. Combine melted butter and milk, then fold into dry mixture until just combined.
