8 slices white or whole-grain sandwich bread, crusts removed

1 large cucumber, thinly sliced

4 oz. cream cheese, softened

2 tbsp mayonnaise

1 tsp lemon juice

1/4 tsp salt

1/4 tsp black pepper

2 tsp fresh dill, chopped (optional)

1 tsp chives, finely chopped (optional)

Butter for spreading (optional)
Instructions

In a small bowl, mix cream cheese, mayonnaise, lemon juice, salt, pepper, dill, and chives until smooth.

Thinly slice the cucumber and pat dry to remove moisture.

Spread the cream cheese mixture evenly on each slice of bread.

Layer cucumber slices over half of the bread slices.

Top with remaining bread slices, cream cheese side down, and press gently.
