2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour

2 1/2 teaspoons baking powder

1/2 teaspoon salt

1 cup granulated sugar

1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened

2 large eggs

1 cup whole milk

2 teaspoons vanilla extract
Instructions

Preheat oven to 350°F and grease two 8-inch round cake pans.

Whisk flour, baking powder, and salt in a bowl.

Cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy.

Add eggs one at a time, then mix in vanilla.

Alternate adding dry ingredients and milk until combined.

Divide batter evenly and bake for 25 to 30 minutes.

Cool completely, then cut one cake in half.

Arrange cake halves against the second cake to form a heart shape.
