Description

This Festive Christmas Bread is the holiday bake everyone will talk about. Soft, sweet, and beautifully golden, it is perfect for every Christmas table.


Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 cups (480g) all-purpose flour

  • 1 packet (2 ¼ tsp / 7g) instant yeast

  • ½ cup (100g) granulated sugar

  • 1 cup (240ml) warm milk

  • 2 large eggs

  • ½ cup (113g) unsalted butter, softened

  • 1 tsp (5ml) vanilla extract

  • 1 tsp (2g) ground cinnamon

  • 1 cup (150g) mixed dried fruit

  • Zest of 1 orange (optional)

  • Pinch of salt


Instructions

  • Whisk flour, sugar, cinnamon, and salt in a large bowl.

  • Add yeast, warm milk, eggs, and vanilla, then mix to form a dough.

  • Add softened butter gradually and knead until smooth and elastic.

  • Stir in dried fruit until evenly distributed.

  • Let the dough rise for 1 to 1.5 hours until doubled.

  • Shape the dough into a loaf or braid and place on a lined tray.

  • Let it rise again for 30–45 minutes.

  • Brush with egg wash and bake at 350°F (175°C) for 30–35 minutes.

  • Cool before slicing and serving.
