Ingredients

4 large egg whites

1 cup granulated sugar

1 teaspoon cornstarch

1 teaspoon white vinegar or lemon juice

1 tablespoon warm water

½ teaspoon saffron threads

2 tablespoons honey, divided

1 cup heavy whipping cream

2 tablespoons powdered sugar

½ teaspoon vanilla extract

Fresh berries or sliced fruit for topping

Instructions

Preheat oven to 225°F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

Steep crushed saffron in warm water for 10 minutes, then mix with 1 tablespoon honey.

Beat egg whites until soft peaks form, then gradually add sugar and whip to stiff glossy peaks.

Fold in cornstarch, vinegar, and saffron honey mixture gently.

Spoon meringue into six domes and create a small well in the center of each.

Bake for 75 to 90 minutes, then cool completely in the oven with the door slightly open.

Whip cream with powdered sugar, vanilla, and remaining honey until soft peaks form.
