Ingredients

  • 1 red velvet cake, baked and cooled, cut into cubes

  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened

  • 1 cup heavy whipping cream

  • 3/4 cup powdered sugar, divided

  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

  • 1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder

  • 1 1/2 cups fresh strawberries or raspberries

  • Optional 1/2 cup chocolate ganache or berry compote


Instructions

  • Bake and cool the red velvet cake, then cut it into bite-sized cubes.

  • Beat softened cream cheese with half the powdered sugar until smooth. Add vanilla and cocoa powder and mix well.

  • Whip heavy cream with remaining powdered sugar until stiff peaks form.

  • Gently fold whipped cream into the cream cheese mixture to create a light mousse.

  • Layer cake cubes, mousse, and berries in a trifle dish, repeating until full.

  • Finish with a layer of mousse and garnish as desired.

  • Chill for at least 2 hours before serving.
