Ingredients

  • 1 lb. Italian sausage, casing removed
  • 12 lasagna noodles (uncooked)
  • 2 cups ricotta cheese
  • 3 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 4 cups marinara sauce
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 2 tsp Italian seasoning
  • 1/4 cup fresh basil, chopped (optional)
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 tbsp olive oil

Instructions

  • Heat olive oil in a skillet, sauté onions and garlic until translucent. Add sausage and brown. Season with Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper.
  • Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Cook lasagna noodles until al dente, drain, and set aside.
  • Spread a thin layer of sauce in a 9×13-inch dish. Layer noodles, ricotta, mozzarella, sausage, and sauce. Repeat until ingredients are used. Top with mozzarella and Parmesan.
  • Cover with foil and bake for 25 minutes. Remove foil and bake an additional 20 minutes until cheese is golden and bubbly.
  • Let rest for 10-15 minutes before serving. Garnish with fresh basil if desired.
