Description

This chocolate cake is unbelievably soft, rich, and packed with deep cocoa flavor. One bite and you will never settle for dry cake again.


Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour

  • 2 cups granulated sugar

  • 3/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder

  • 2 tsp baking powder

  • 1 1/2 tsp baking soda

  • 1 tsp salt

  • 2 large eggs

  • 1 cup whole milk

  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil

  • 2 tsp vanilla extract

  • 1 cup hot brewed coffee

  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened

  • 3 1/2 cups powdered sugar

  • 1/2 cup cocoa powder

  • 1/4 cup heavy cream

  • 1 tsp vanilla extract


Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F and prepare two 9-inch cake pans.

  2. Whisk together flour, sugar, cocoa, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.

  3. Add eggs, milk, oil, and vanilla. Mix until smooth.

  4. Slowly add hot coffee and mix gently.

  5. Divide batter into pans and bake 30 to 35 minutes.

  6. Cool completely on wire racks.

  7. Beat butter, powdered sugar, cocoa, cream, and vanilla until fluffy.

  8. Frost cooled cake layers and serve.
