Ingredients

  • 2 lbs beef short ribs, flanken cut

  • 1/2 cup soy sauce

  • 1/4 cup brown sugar

  • 2 tbsp sesame oil

  • 4 cloves garlic, minced

  • 1 tbsp fresh ginger, grated

  • 1/3 cup grated pear

  • 2 tbsp mirin or rice wine

  • 2 tbsp green onions, sliced

  • 1 tbsp sesame seeds

  • 1/4 tsp black pepper

  • 1 tbsp vegetable oil for grilling


Instructions

  • In a bowl, whisk together soy sauce, brown sugar, sesame oil, garlic, ginger, grated pear, mirin, black pepper, and green onions.

  • Place the beef short ribs into the marinade and coat them evenly.

  • Cover and refrigerate for at least 2 hours or overnight for deeper flavor.

  • Preheat the grill to medium-high heat and lightly oil the grates.

  • Remove ribs from marinade and shake off excess liquid.

  • Grill the ribs for about 2–3 minutes per side until caramelized and slightly charred.

  • Transfer ribs to a serving plate and sprinkle with sesame seeds and extra green onions.

  • Serve hot with rice, lettuce wraps, or your favorite Korean side dishes.
