- 12 oz penne pasta or rotini
- 1 lb ground beef or Italian sausage
- 2 cups marinara or pizza sauce
- 1 ½ cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 cup sliced pepperoni
- 1 small onion, chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 1 tsp dried oregano
- 1 tsp dried basil
- ½ tsp red pepper flakes (optional)
- Salt and black pepper to taste
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375°F and grease a baking dish.
- Cook pasta until al dente, then drain.
- Sauté onion and garlic in olive oil until soft.
- Brown the meat, then season and drain excess fat.
- Stir in sauce and simmer briefly.
- Combine pasta with sauce mixture.
- Layer half in dish, add cheese and pepperoni.
- Repeat layers with remaining ingredients.
- Bake for 20–25 minutes until bubbly.
- Let rest before serving.
