Description

Ingredients

  • 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts

  • 2 cups crushed pretzels

  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour

  • 2 large eggs

  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard

  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder

  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika

  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper

  • 3 tablespoons olive oil or melted butter

  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter

  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour

  • 1 1/2 cups whole milk

  • 1 1/2 cups sharp cheddar cheese, grated

  • 2 tablespoons Dijon or whole-grain mustard


Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 400°F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

  • Set up three bowls for flour, egg mixture, and pretzel crumbs with seasoning.

  • Coat chicken in flour, dip in egg, then press into pretzel crumbs.

  • Place chicken on baking sheet and drizzle lightly with oil or butter.

  • Bake for 22–25 minutes, flipping halfway, until golden and cooked through.

  • Melt butter in a saucepan, whisk in flour, then slowly add milk until thickened.

  • Stir in cheddar cheese and mustard until smooth and creamy.

  • Spoon warm sauce over baked chicken and serve immediately.
