1 3/4 cups (220 g) all-purpose flour

1/4 tsp ground cloves

1/2 cup (115 g) unsalted butter, softened

1 cup (200 g) granulated sugar

2 large eggs

1 tsp vanilla extract

1 cup (240 ml) pumpkin puree

1 cup (175 g) semisweet chocolate chips

Optional: 1/2 cup (50 g) chopped walnuts or pecans
Instructions

Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×5-inch loaf pan.

In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, baking powder, salt, cinnamon, nutmeg, and cloves.

In a large bowl, beat butter and sugar until light and fluffy.

Beat in eggs one at a time, then add vanilla and pumpkin puree until smooth.

Gradually fold dry ingredients into wet ingredients until just combined.

Fold in chocolate chips and optional nuts evenly.

Pour batter into prepared pan and smooth the top. Bake 55–65 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
