Ingredients

  • 1 3/4 cups (220 g) all-purpose flour

  • 1 tsp baking soda

  • 1/2 tsp baking powder

  • 1/2 tsp salt

  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon

  • 1/2 tsp ground nutmeg

  • 1/4 tsp ground cloves

  • 1/2 cup (115 g) unsalted butter, softened

  • 1 cup (200 g) granulated sugar

  • 2 large eggs

  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

  • 1 cup (240 ml) pumpkin puree

  • 1 cup (175 g) semisweet chocolate chips

  • Optional: 1/2 cup (50 g) chopped walnuts or pecans


Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×5-inch loaf pan.

  • In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, baking powder, salt, cinnamon, nutmeg, and cloves.

  • In a large bowl, beat butter and sugar until light and fluffy.

  • Beat in eggs one at a time, then add vanilla and pumpkin puree until smooth.

  • Gradually fold dry ingredients into wet ingredients until just combined.

  • Fold in chocolate chips and optional nuts evenly.

  • Pour batter into prepared pan and smooth the top. Bake 55–65 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.

  • Cool in pan 15 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely before slicing.
