Ingredients

  • 2 tbsp (25 g) granulated sugar

  • 2 tsp (8 g) baking powder

  • 1/2 tsp salt

  • 1 1/2 cups (360 ml) whole milk

  • 2 large eggs

  • 4 tbsp (56 g) melted butter

  • 2 tbsp (15 g) unsweetened cocoa powder

  • 1 tsp (5 ml) red food coloring

  • 1 tsp (5 ml) vanilla extract


Instructions

  1. Whisk flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt in a large bowl.

  2. In another bowl, whisk milk, eggs, and melted butter.

  3. Combine wet and dry ingredients, mixing gently.

  4. Move one third of the batter to a separate bowl and mix in cocoa, food coloring, and vanilla.

  5. Preheat waffle iron and lightly grease.

  6. Add vanilla batter, then spoon red velvet batter on top and gently swirl.

  7. Cook until crisp and golden, then repeat with remaining batter.
