Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb. ground beef (preferably lean)

  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil or sesame oil

  • 1 small onion, finely diced

  • 3 cloves garlic, minced

  • 1 tbsp fresh ginger, minced

  • 1 red bell pepper, finely diced

  • 2 tbsp soy sauce

  • 1 tbsp oyster sauce (optional)

  • 1 tsp rice vinegar

  • 1 tsp sesame oil

  • 1/4 tsp black pepper

  • 1/4 tsp chili flakes (optional)

  • 1 head butter or iceberg lettuce, leaves separated, washed, and dried

  • 2 green onions, sliced thin

  • 1/4 cup shredded carrots

  • 1/4 cup chopped cilantro

Instructions

  • Prep ingredients by washing lettuce leaves, dicing vegetables, and mincing garlic and ginger.

  • Heat oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Sauté onions for 2–3 minutes until translucent, then add garlic and ginger for 30 seconds.

  • Stir in red bell pepper, soy sauce, oyster sauce, rice vinegar, sesame oil, black pepper, and chili flakes. Cook 2–3 minutes.

  • Spoon beef mixture into lettuce leaves. Top with shredded carrots, green onions, and cilantro.

  • Serve immediately and enjoy while the lettuce is crisp and the beef is warm.
