Description
A rich chocolate cake layered with sweet cherries and fluffy whipped cream. This homemade Black Forest Cake tastes bakery-perfect and looks stunning on any dessert table.

2 cups all-purpose flour

¾ cup unsweetened cocoa powder

2 cups granulated sugar

2 tsp baking powder

1½ tsp baking soda

½ tsp salt

1 cup buttermilk

½ cup vegetable oil

2 large eggs

2 tsp vanilla extract

1 cup hot coffee or hot water

2 cups pitted cherries

2 tbsp cornstarch

¼ cup water

3 cups heavy whipping cream

â…“ cup powdered sugar

½ cup chocolate shavings
Instructions

Preheat oven to 350°F and grease two 9-inch cake pans.

In a large bowl whisk flour, cocoa powder, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.

Add buttermilk, oil, eggs, and vanilla extract then mix until smooth.

Slowly add hot coffee and mix until the batter becomes thin and glossy.

Divide batter between pans and bake for 30–35 minutes. Cool completely.

In a saucepan cook cherries, sugar, cornstarch, and water until thickened. Cool the filling.

Whip heavy cream with powdered sugar and vanilla until soft peaks form.

Place one cake layer on a serving plate and spread whipped cream and cherry filling on top.

Add the second layer and frost the entire cake with whipped cream.

Decorate with chocolate shavings and cherries before serving
