Ingredients

  • 6 cups chicken or vegetable broth

  • 1 cup pastina pasta

  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter

  • 1 tablespoon olive oil

  • 1 small onion, finely diced

  • 1 garlic clove, minced

  • 1 large egg, optional

  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese

  • Salt and black pepper to taste

  • 1 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped


Instructions

  • Heat olive oil and butter in a saucepan over medium heat until melted.

  • Add onion and cook until soft, then stir in garlic briefly.

  • Pour in broth and bring to a gentle boil.

  • Add pastina, stir often, and simmer until tender.

  • Lower heat and stir in beaten egg if using.
