- ¼ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- ½ cup sugar
- 1 cup active sourdough starter
- ¾ cup warm milk
- 1 large egg
- 4 tbsp butter, softened
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 cup cherries, pitted and chopped
- ½ cup dark chocolate chips
Instructions
- Mix flour, cocoa powder, sugar, and salt in a bowl.
- Add starter, milk, egg, and butter, then knead until smooth.
- Let the dough rest for 30 minutes.
- Fold in cherries and chocolate chips gently.
- Let the dough rise until doubled in size.
- Shape into a loaf and place in a pan.
- Proof again until slightly puffy.
- Bake at 350°F for 35–40 minutes.
- Cool completely before slicing.
