  • 3/4 cup (150 g) granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1/3 cup (80 g) sour cream
  • 1/4 cup (57 g) unsalted butter, softened
  • 1/3 cup (67 g) packed light brown sugar
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
  • 4 ounces (113 g) cream cheese, softened
  • 1 cup (120 g) powdered sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1–2 tablespoons (15–30 ml) milk

Instructions

  • Whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt in a medium bowl.
  • Beat softened butter and granulated sugar until pale and fluffy.
  • Mix in the egg, vanilla, and sour cream until smooth.
  • Gradually add the dry ingredients and mix just until a soft dough forms.
  • Combine softened butter, brown sugar, and cinnamon to make the filling.
  • Shape the dough into rounds, spread with cinnamon filling, and gently form cinnamon-roll-inspired swirls.
  • Chill the shaped cookies for about 20 minutes.
  • Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 10–13 minutes until the edges are lightly golden.
  • Cool the cookies completely on a wire rack.
  • Beat cream cheese, powdered sugar, vanilla, and milk until smooth and creamy.
  • Spread or drizzle the cream cheese icing over the cooled cookies and serve
