- 12 oz. fresh cranberries
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup water
- 1/2 cup fresh orange juice
- 1 tbsp. finely grated orange zest
- 1 tsp. pure vanilla extract
- 1/4 tsp. ground cinnamon
- 1/8 tsp. ground nutmeg
- Pinch of salt
Instructions
- Rinse the cranberries and remove any soft or damaged berries.
- Add water, orange juice, sugar, orange zest, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt to a medium saucepan.
- Bring the mixture to a gentle simmer over medium heat, stirring until the sugar dissolves.
- Add the cranberries and stir gently to combine.
- Reduce the heat and simmer for 10 to 15 minutes, stirring occasionally, until most cranberries burst and the sauce thickens.
- Remove the saucepan from the heat and stir in the vanilla extract.
- Transfer the cranberry sauce to a serving bowl and let it cool.
- Refrigerate for 1 to 2 hours before serving, or prepare it up to 2 days ahead.
