Description

This bright, sweet-tart cranberry sauce is the homemade holiday classic your Thanksgiving table needs. It is simple, vibrant, and packed with fresh seasonal flavor.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 12 oz. fresh cranberries
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1/2 cup fresh orange juice
  • 1 tbsp. finely grated orange zest
  • 1 tsp. pure vanilla extract
  • 1/4 tsp. ground cinnamon
  • 1/8 tsp. ground nutmeg
  • Pinch of salt

Instructions

  • Rinse the cranberries and remove any soft or damaged berries.
  • Add water, orange juice, sugar, orange zest, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt to a medium saucepan.
  • Bring the mixture to a gentle simmer over medium heat, stirring until the sugar dissolves.
  • Add the cranberries and stir gently to combine.
  • Reduce the heat and simmer for 10 to 15 minutes, stirring occasionally, until most cranberries burst and the sauce thickens.
  • Remove the saucepan from the heat and stir in the vanilla extract.
  • Transfer the cranberry sauce to a serving bowl and let it cool.
  • Refrigerate for 1 to 2 hours before serving, or prepare it up to 2 days ahead.
