Ingredients

  • 1 lb (450g) rigatoni pasta
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 small onion, chopped
  • 1 lb (450g) ground beef or Italian sausage (optional)
  • 2 cups (480ml) marinara sauce
  • 1 cup (240ml) heavy cream
  • 1 cup (100g) Parmesan cheese
  • 2 cups (200g) mozzarella cheese
  • 1 tsp Italian seasoning
  • Salt and black pepper to taste

Instructions

  • Cook rigatoni until al dente, then drain.
  • Heat olive oil and sauté onion until soft, then add garlic and cook briefly. Add meat if using and brown well.
  • Stir in marinara sauce, cream, and seasoning, then simmer until slightly thickened.
  • Mix cooked pasta into sauce and add half the cheeses.
  • Transfer to baking dish and top with remaining cheese.
  • Bake at 375°F (190°C) for 20–25 minutes until bubbly and golden.
  • Rest for a few minutes before serving.
