Rich and creamy Noodles Romanoff made with tender noodles, a flavorful cheese sauce, and simple ingredients. A comforting family favorite ready in no time.


Ingredients

  • 12 oz wide egg noodles
  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 1 medium yellow onion, finely diced
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 2 cups sharp cheddar cheese, freshly shredded
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1/2 cup whole milk
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 tsp Dijon mustard
  • 1/2 tsp paprika
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • 2 tbsp chopped fresh parsley
  • 1/4 cup buttery breadcrumbs (optional)
  • Extra Parmesan cheese for topping (optional)

Instructions

  1. Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil and cook the egg noodles until al dente.
  2. Reserve 1/2 cup of the pasta water, then drain the noodles.
  3. Melt the butter in a large skillet over medium heat.
  4. Cook the diced onion until soft and lightly golden, then add the garlic and cook for 1 minute.
  5. Stir in the milk and Dijon mustard.
  6. Gradually add the cheddar cheese, stirring until smooth.
  7. Remove the skillet from the heat and stir in the sour cream, paprika, salt, and black pepper.
  8. Add the cooked noodles and toss until evenly coated, using reserved pasta water if needed.
  9. Stir in half of the Parmesan cheese and most of the parsley.
  10. Transfer to a greased baking dish if baking, then top with the remaining Parmesan and breadcrumbs.
  11. Bake at 375°F (190°C) for 15 to 20 minutes until bubbly and lightly browned.
  12. Garnish with the remaining parsley and serve warm.
