  • 1/2 cup freshly squeezed orange juice
  • 1/2 cup whole milk or buttermilk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 2–3 tablespoons fresh orange juice for glaze
  • 1 teaspoon orange zest for glaze

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 350°F and grease a loaf or cake pan.
  • Whisk flour, poppy seeds, baking powder, and salt in a bowl.
  • Beat butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  • Add eggs one at a time, then mix in vanilla, orange zest, and orange juice.
  • Alternate adding dry ingredients and milk into the batter.
  • Pour batter into the prepared pan and smooth the top.
  • Bake for 40–50 minutes until a toothpick comes out clean.
  • Cool the cake for 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
  • Whisk powdered sugar, orange juice, and zest to make the glaze.
  • Drizzle glaze over the warm cake, slice, and serve.
