  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/2 cup eggnog
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 2 cups powdered sugar
  • 3 tablespoons eggnog
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  • Whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, nutmeg, and cinnamon.
  • Beat softened butter and granulated sugar until pale and fluffy.
  • Beat in the egg and vanilla, then mix in the eggnog.
  • Gradually add the dry ingredients and mix just until combined.
  • Drop rounded tablespoons of dough onto prepared baking sheets, leaving space between cookies.
  • Bake for 9 to 11 minutes, removing the cookies while the centers are still soft.
  • Cool the cookies on the baking sheet for 5 minutes, then transfer them to a wire rack.
  • Beat butter for the frosting until smooth, then gradually add powdered sugar.
  • Mix in eggnog, vanilla, and nutmeg until the frosting is creamy and spreadable.
  • Frost the completely cooled cookies and sprinkle lightly with additional nutmeg.
  • Let the frosting set before serving or storing
