These colorful Superhero Cookies are soft, buttery sugar cookies decorated with royal icing in bright red, blue, yellow, black, green, and white. They are perfect for superhero birthday parties, school celebrations, holiday treats, or fun baking projects with kids.

- 1 teaspoon (5 g) baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon (3 g) salt
- 1 cup (226 g) unsalted butter, softened
- 3/4 cup (150 g) granulated sugar
- 3/4 cup (165 g) packed brown sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 2 teaspoons (10 ml) vanilla extract
- 1 cup (170 g) semi-sweet chocolate chips
- 1 cup (170 g) colorful candy-coated chocolate pieces
- 2 tablespoons (30 g) extra colorful candies for topping
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line two baking sheets with parchment paper.
- Whisk flour, baking soda, and salt together in a medium bowl.
- Beat softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until creamy and fluffy.
- Beat in the eggs one at a time, then mix in vanilla extract.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients and mix until just combined.
- Fold in chocolate chips and colorful candy pieces, reserving some candies for topping.
- Scoop about 2 tablespoons of dough per cookie and place onto prepared baking sheets.
- Press reserved candy pieces onto the tops of the dough balls.
- Bake for 9 to 12 minutes, until the edges are lightly golden and the centers remain soft.
- Cool cookies on the baking sheets for 5 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack.
