- 5 medium apples, about 2 1/2 lbs. (1.1 kg), peeled or unpeeled and sliced
- 1 1/2 cups (150 g) fresh or frozen cranberries
- 1/2 cup (100 g) granulated sugar
- 2 tbsp. (16 g) all-purpose flour
- 1 tbsp. (15 ml) lemon juice
- 1 tsp. ground cinnamon
- 1/2 tsp. vanilla extract
- 1 cup (90 g) old-fashioned rolled oats
- 3/4 cup (95 g) all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup (100 g) packed brown sugar
- 1/2 cup (113 g) unsalted butter, melted
- 1/2 tsp. ground cinnamon
- 1/4 tsp. salt
- 1/2 cup (60 g) chopped pecans or walnuts
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C) and lightly grease a 9 x 13-inch baking dish.
- Slice the apples evenly and place them in a large mixing bowl.
- Add cranberries, sugar, flour, lemon juice, cinnamon, and vanilla. Toss gently to coat.
- Spread the fruit mixture evenly in the prepared baking dish.
- Combine oats, flour, brown sugar, cinnamon, and salt in a separate bowl.
- Add melted butter and stir until moist crumbs and small clusters form.
- Fold in the chopped pecans or walnuts.
- Scatter the topping evenly over the fruit without pressing it down.
- Bake for 40 to 50 minutes, until the topping is golden and the fruit is bubbling.
- Let the crisp rest for 15 to 20 minutes before serving warm.
