  • 5 medium apples, about 2 1/2 lbs. (1.1 kg), peeled or unpeeled and sliced
  • 1 1/2 cups (150 g) fresh or frozen cranberries
  • 1/2 cup (100 g) granulated sugar
  • 2 tbsp. (16 g) all-purpose flour
  • 1 tbsp. (15 ml) lemon juice
  • 1 tsp. ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp. vanilla extract
  • 1 cup (90 g) old-fashioned rolled oats
  • 3/4 cup (95 g) all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup (100 g) packed brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup (113 g) unsalted butter, melted
  • 1/2 tsp. ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 cup (60 g) chopped pecans or walnuts

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C) and lightly grease a 9 x 13-inch baking dish.
  • Slice the apples evenly and place them in a large mixing bowl.
  • Add cranberries, sugar, flour, lemon juice, cinnamon, and vanilla. Toss gently to coat.
  • Spread the fruit mixture evenly in the prepared baking dish.
  • Combine oats, flour, brown sugar, cinnamon, and salt in a separate bowl.
  • Add melted butter and stir until moist crumbs and small clusters form.
  • Fold in the chopped pecans or walnuts.
  • Scatter the topping evenly over the fruit without pressing it down.
  • Bake for 40 to 50 minutes, until the topping is golden and the fruit is bubbling.
  • Let the crisp rest for 15 to 20 minutes before serving warm.
